New Operators for Northlink Ferries announced by Scottish Government

Serco Ltd emerged as the preferred bidder for the Northlink Ferry services betweeen mainland Scotland and the northern isles of Shetland and Orkney, after an announcement was made by the Scottish Government Minister for Transport on Friday afternoon (4th May 2012). The Maritime Group Europe was an integral part of the Bid Team effort over the months of December 2011, January, February and March 2012, after being contracted to assist Serco in their bid to secure the Northlink Ferries contract. The Maritime Group will continue to play an integral part of the Serco transition team for start-up of the new contract and beyond. The Maritime Group has considerable expertise and experience in the operation of ferries throughout the world, including executive, senior management, operational and sea positions in major ferry operators, such as Sea Containers Ferries and Ports Limited, Sealink UK Limited, Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Limited, P&O, Hoverspeed, Silja Line SA and Black Ball Ferry Line, Inc.

Government of Gujarat, India announce dates of Road Shows for Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) Ferry bid.

The Government of Gujarat State in India has announce dates for Road Shows by GMB on the contract management services for establishing Ro-Ro ferry operations between Gogha and Dahej in the Gulf of Khambhat (Gambay). The shows will take place in Mumbai on 11th June 2012 and 28th June in London. Interested parties should consult the GMB web site www.roro-ferries-in-gulf-of-gambay.com . New Owners for Black Ball Line

Black Ball Ferry Line announced  that the company’s current executive management team (CEO Captain John M Cox President and Chairman The Maritime Group (International)  has agreed to purchase the company from the Oregon State University Foundation.

The Maritime Group Europe has been contracted to assist one of the selected bidders in their efforts to secure the Northlink Ferries contract. Northlink Ferries operate a passenger and freight service between mainland Scotland and the islands of Orkney and Shetlands. The contract, awarded to the successful bidder by Transport Scotland on behalf of the government of Scotland, will commence July 2012.

Gujarat Maritime Board contract awarded

A consortia consisting of The Maritime Group (International) Limited, Beckett Rankine Ltd/Beckett Rankine India Pvt Ltd and Avalon Global Research has been awarded a contract by the Gujarat Maritime Board of India. The contract to commence early 2012 involves project management services for establishing Ro-Ro ferry operations between Gogha and Dahej in the Gulf of Khambhat. Aquarius Services of Mumba will be supporting The Maritime Group.
